What Are WVS Add-On Services?

In response to district requests, WVS launched a new Add-On Services program in 2024, providing live instruction and synchronous learning opportunities to better meet the needs of students and WVS partners. These services are available in flexible 30- or 60-minute increments, allowing districts to purchase them either as one-time opportunities or in bulk for easier distribution and budgeting.

WVS Add-On Services are designed to enhance a student’s core WVS course experience, offering additional, customized support that addresses the unique needs of both students and districts. Whether for academic assistance, enrichment, or other student-centered support, these services are intended to enhance the learning experience and help students thrive. These services are in response to district needs in the following instances and others:

  • Newcomer- Multilingual Learners
  • Homebound Instruction
  • Teacher Shortage

Programming Information:

WVS Add-On Services are made up of four programs:

  • WVS Online Skills and Homework Support
  • WVS Targeted Skills and Support
  • WVS "In Real Time" Live Lessons
  • WVS Special Populations and Multilingual Support

WVS Online Skills & Homework Support

This service is designed for WVS students who need adult support beyond Teacher Connect time in the online classroom. Students will meet 1:1 with a teacher who will help build agency, confidence, and skills with online learning. Sessions could also be dedicated to working collaboratively through learning modules.

  • Support in navigating daily and weekly schedules

  • Navigating Google applications
  • 1:1 Homework Support based on student's schedule and needs

WVS Partner Pricing:

  • Pricing for sessions:
    • $50 for 60-minute session
      • 40-minute session and 20-minute prep
    • $25 for 30-minute session
      • 20-minute session and 10-minute prep
  • Flexible payment options: 
    • One-time or bundled payment options for one or multiple students

WVS Targeted Skills Support:

This service is designed for learners enrolled in WVS courses who have potential literacy and/or math gaps and are in need of support provided by educators licensed and experienced in providing targeted interventions and progress monitoring data. This also includes students whose districts require literacy screening to be compliant under ACT 20.

    • Progress monitoring
    • Content strand data
    • Student goal setting

    • $30 for 30-minute session (Districts receive and keep all data)
    • $60 for 60-minute session (Districts receive and keep all data)
  • Prep time is determined by selected time(s) of targeted supports

WVS “In Real Time” Live Lessons

This service is designed to support “whole-class solutions,” specifically where WVS is supporting teacher shortage or helping to expand a curricular need within a school. Teachers will schedule “In Real Time” live lessons or recorded lessons to share in class at predetermined times and intervals. 

Learner Support:

  • Frequency is based on the needs of both the district and learners
  • Designed for full-class solutions and small groups (not available for 1:1)
  • Use cases include, but are not limited to:
    • Teacher Shortage:  Whether for full semester, school-year, or to cover unexpected leaves until a position can be filled
    • Expand the course catalog
    • Transition learners from face-to-face to more independent learning with supports
    • World Language solutions for conversation practice and cultural explorations
    • Build skills and knowledge connected to standards for a group of learners
    • Alternative Assessments- example Discussion-Based Assessments (DBAs)

WVS Special Populations and Multilingual Learner Support

This service is tailored for learners enrolled in WVS courses who have IEPs/ILPs or 504 accommodations. Special Education and/or ELL teachers will deliver 1:1 supplemental support to increase learner success and to support learner's goals.
PLEASE NOTE: The District maintains ownership of the Learning Plan.

Multilingual (ELL) Learner Level 1 Semester 1 Course

WVS offers a semester-long course designed specifically for Newcomers—students in grades 6-12 who have recently arrived in the United States with an English Proficiency (EP) level of 1 or 2. This course focuses on building essential English language skills, with an emphasis on English Language Development (ELD) and survival English, enabling students to navigate daily life and school environments more confidently.

The course will be delivered asynchronously, allowing students to work at their own pace, while also including required synchronous sessions with a certified Wisconsin EL teacher. These live lessons will provide direct support and interactive learning opportunities to help students improve their speaking, listening, and comprehension skills. This course is ideal for newcomer learners who are ready to enhance their language abilities and integrate more effectively into their new academic and social communities.

Additional 1:1 live support sessions with EL-certified instructors can be added to the course if requested by the district as an Add-On Service.

Enrollment in this course must be done through a conversation with Associate Director Larissa Zompolas.

Enrollment Windows for 2025-26:

  • September 8, 2025 - September 22, 2025
  • November 17, 2025 - December 1, 2025
  • January 19, 2026 - February 2, 2026
  • March 2, 2026 - March 16, 2026

Learner Support:

Learners enrolled in this course will participate in 7 required synchronous sessions with a certified Wisconsin EL teacher. These live sessions are a key component of the course, providing real-time interaction and personalized support. The sessions will be scheduled based on both student and teacher availability and can be arranged with a group of other EL students within the district to form a cohort. In addition to the live lessons, students will complete asynchronous coursework, allowing them to learn and practice at their own pace.

  • Total cost of enrollment for Multilingual (ELL) Learner Level 1 Course:
    • $570 (includes asynchronous course and 7 synchronous sessions)
      • Fee Breakdown:
        • $290 per student enrollment in asynchronous course
        • Synchronous sessions:
          • 7 30-minute sessions with an EL-certified teacher (required)
          • $280 applies to one student enrollment. However, if a district enrolls multiple learners who will progress through the course at a similar pace, they can have these students attend the live sessions as a group and pay the fee only once.

Multilingual (ELL) Learner Level 1 Semester 2 Course – Starting August 2025

WVS is excited to offer the next course in our Multilingual Learner series, designed for students in grades 6–12 with an English Proficiency (EP) level of 1 or 2 who have already completed the Multilingual Learner (ELL) Level 1 Semester 1 course. This semester-long course supports students in continuing to build their English language development skills, with a focus on grammar, academic writing, and speaking. It provides structured support and scaffolds to help learners strengthen their ability to communicate clearly and confidently in both school and everyday situations.

This course is delivered asynchronously, giving students the flexibility to work at their own pace. In addition, students will participate in required synchronous sessions led by a certified Wisconsin EL teacher. These live sessions focus on interactive speaking and writing practice, real-time feedback, and targeted language development.

Districts may choose to add extra 1:1 live support sessions with EL-certified instructors through WVS Add-On Services, depending on student need.

Enrollment in this course must be done through a conversation with Associate Director Larissa Zompolas.

Enrollment Windows for 2025-26:

  • August 18, 2025 – September 1, 2025
  • September 8, 2025 – September 22, 2025
  • November 17, 2025 – December 1, 2025
  • January 19, 2026 – February 2, 2026
  • March 2, 2026 – March 16, 2026

Learner Support:

Students enrolled in this course will take part in 7 required synchronous sessions with a certified Wisconsin EL teacher. These live sessions are central to the learning experience, providing students with personalized instruction and peer interaction. Sessions will be scheduled based on teacher and student availability and can be arranged for individual learners or cohorts progressing at a similar pace within a district. Students will also complete asynchronous coursework that includes grammar instruction, speaking practice, and scaffolded writing assignments to support continued language development.

        • $290 per student enrollment in asynchronous course

          • $280 for 7 required 30-minute synchronous sessions with an EL-certified teacher
            • This fee covers one student enrollment. If a district enrolls multiple learners progressing through the course at a similar pace, they may attend the synchronous sessions as a group and pay the fee only once.
